This itinerary is deliberately not timed minute by minute. Coastal weather, temple crowds and local traffic can change the pace, and a good weekend should leave space for a long meal, a family stop or simply staying longer somewhere you enjoy.
Day 1: Kateel, Kinnigoli and the coast
Morning: Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple
Make Kateel the first major commitment of the trip. Check current temple timings and any festival or special-day arrangements before leaving. Give the visit enough time that a queue or ceremony does not make the rest of your day feel rushed.
Midday: return towards Kinnigoli
Use Kinnigoli for a pause and meal before deciding how much more you want to do. Families travelling with elderly relatives may prefer to rest and keep the afternoon simple.
Afternoon: choose Mulki or Sasihitlu
If you have pre-booked surfing or kayaking, head towards Mulki and follow the operator’s timing and safety advice. If you simply want a coast visit, Sasihitlu is a relaxed alternative. Avoid trying to fit multiple water activities into a temple day.
Evening: optional Surathkal stop
If everyone still has energy, Surathkal can work as a late-afternoon or sunset stop. Treat lighthouse entry as a bonus rather than a guarantee because visiting hours can be limited.
Day 2: heritage or Mangaluru
Option A: Moodbidri + Mangaluru
Start with Moodbidri’s Thousand Pillar Jain Basadi for a very different architectural and cultural experience, then continue towards Mangaluru for lunch, shopping, a city attraction or dinner.
Option B: a slower Mangaluru day
If the first day was busy, skip the additional drive and spend the second day around Mangaluru. The city offers temples, churches, markets, restaurants and beaches, so choose two or three things rather than working through a long list.
Option C: Udupi for a longer day
Guests who want another major temple destination can head north towards Udupi and the Sri Krishna Temple. This is better treated as the main outing of the day, not an add-on after several local stops.
One fixed spiritual or cultural stop plus one optional leisure stop per half-day is a comfortable rule. It leaves room for meals, traffic and older or younger travellers.
Where ANVAYA fits
ANVAYA Suites and Banquet is opening soon in Kinnigoli. For future guests, the location is intended to work as a base for temple visits, family functions, coastal outings and short regional trips without requiring a central Mangaluru hotel for every itinerary.
If your visit includes a wedding or family function at ANVAYA Banquet, keep the event day deliberately light. Use the day before or after the function for sightseeing rather than squeezing temple and beach trips around the programme.
Before setting out
Verify temple timings, lighthouse access, weather and water-activity conditions on the day. During monsoon periods in particular, build more flexibility into coastal plans and follow local safety instructions.
